Girls freshman basketball had a great year this year, having one loss in conference leading them to becoming conference champions and having a record of 17-5.

Throughout the season there were injuries and people missing for different reasons, but the team always came together as a team to do their best.

“I think the season went very well, and everyone became closer to one another,” point guard Avery Saikie said. “We started off distant, but that really changed during the season.”

Concerning the season, she also said, “The season was so successful because everyone worked well together, and we were really motivated to win.”

The last game was against Germantown, where they won 41-40 by a last second play. They were losing all game with multiple non-serious injuries happening on the court.

In the last minute, they called a play, got the basket and a free throw from a foul, and stopped them from scoring again.

“The team was really persistent and didn’t give up” Saikie said.

They are all really looking forward to next season and the banquet coming up this Sunday where they all get to hang out as a team again.
