The Ike Girls Tennis team has been playing strong all season with an 18-3 overall record and 5-0 record in the Woodland West Conference. Just two days ago Ike went 3-0 to win the Parker Invite. Four days ago the Lady Lions went 5-2, beating Tosa West.

While the entire team is really strong, Lauren Landstrom is one of the star players, and recently she beat the number one seed and state qualifier from Waukesha South, Rina Niehoff, at a Quad in Green Bay with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Landstrom also “played singles against a girl from Green Bay named Mei Fredeen, and beat her 6-2,6-1.” Landstrom appreciates the strength of her team, noting that, “So far, the whole team has been doing great. We are a deep team, you know, thoroughly talented throughout our whole lineup. Everyone’s super motivated, we all do our best, and we just put forth 100% effort in every match and support each other no matter what. We are definitely doing good.”

Because Ike doesn’t have a tennis court, Landstrom pointed out, “We practice right after school at the Princeton Club. I practice year round for 2 hours a day. Tennis is very important to me, and I’d say other than school, this is what means the the most to me.” Of course, even though Girls Tennis has won a majority of their matches, they still have some losses. Landstrom thinks their toughest opponent so far has been Green Bay SouthWest: “Our team lost to them, they’re really good and our overall team score was 2-5.” The team still plans to finish the season strong and is looking forward to their match on Thursday.
